GENOME: Unlocking Life's Code - OPENING EVENT

- Orange County Regional History Center -

We were delighted to participate in the pre-opening event for Orange County Regional History Center's remarkable new exhibit from the Smithsonian Institution and National Institutes of Health (NIH).

The stunning interactive displays are augmented brilliantly by History Center staff with genomic studies in a custom designed special area, that explores three genomic ties to Central Florida – the Windover Bog archaeological site in Brevard County, the area's development of citrus, and through the family histories of some well-known Central Floridians, including Orlando Mayor Buddy DyerBuddy Dyer; Jorge Estevez WFTV Channel 9 news anchor, local journalist Brendan O’Connor of the Bungalower, Toni Pressley of Orlando Pride and Geraldine Thompson, former state representative and senator and founder of Orlando’s Wells’Built Museum.

During the pre-opening event, the four participants each spoke movingly of the discoveries made in the exploration of their own family histories.

For the event, we provided a number of our signature hors d'oeuvres along with an open bar.
