Mock Trial: Benefit performance for Orlando Shakespeare Theatre

Mock Trial: The Crown vs. William Shakespeare - March 13, 2018

We had a great experience catering the pre-show VIP cocktail party for the 10th anniversary addition of the Orlando Shakespeare Theatre's John R. Hamilton "Mock Trial." The one-night-only production, a madcap mixture of Shakespeare and legal spoof, is a highly successful benefit event for the theatre, now in its 30th year. Many local luminaries in business, law and the arts were in attendance, along with eponymous theatre benefactors John and Rita Lowndes.

For our participation, special thanks to OST's great Director of Development, Dana Nichols. Ditto for our old friend, multi-talented Kim Ashby of Foley & Lardner LLP, who returned yet again as a performer in the eccentric series.

In this year's production (the Crown vs. William Shakespeare), the Great Bard himself was placed on trial, requiring a highly unconventional defense.

The professional actors included the cast of Twelfth Night, just finishing its run on March 23. Other featured performers included Nicholas A. Shannin, Esq. of The Shannin Law Firm, Scott Maxwell (Orlando Sentinel), Belvin Perry (Morgan & Morgan), LaFontaine Oliver (WMFE 90.7), and Julie Wolf (Wells Fargo).

Next up at Orlando Shakespeare is a production of Los Angeles playwright Merdith Friedman's "The Luckiest People, starting March 28th.
